MANILA, Philippines — As popular love teams in showbiz going separate ways, Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil said he and on- and off-screen partner do not need to follow suit.

In an interview with the media at the contract-signing event for Greenwich pizza, Enrique said he is open to a project without Liza Soberano but the "LizQuen" love team must endure.

"If other love teams going that separate ways, parang we really don't need to follow. I mean the trend, it really depends on us. I'm open naman to work in solo projects pero to work with other people and break the love team right now, I don't think it's good. I don't really feel it right now," Enrique said.

Enrique said that LizQuen fans are still supportive and even looking forward to a new movie.

"It's been two years since we've released a movie before 'Alone Together.' You are asking kung puwede maghiwalay muna kami (Liza), parang hindi muna kasi fans are really craving for a movie since we did 'Alone Together,'" he said.

Produced by Black Sheep and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, "Alone/Together" earned an estimated P350 million earlier this year.

Before it was released in cinemas, Enrique and Liza admitted they had been in a relationship for two years. During the Lie Detector Test segment of "Gandang Gabi Vice," host Vice Ganda asked Enrique if he and Liza are already a couple. Enrique answered "Yes," which drew cheers from the audience.

Liza later admitted that she and Enrique have been in a relationship for more than two years and that they celebrate their anniversary in October.

Before the LizQuen success, however, Enrique paired with other teen actresses in his earlier days at the Kapamilya network.

"When I'm starting out sa [ABS-CBN], I was like the boy next door na kahit kanino i-pair. Na-pair ako kay Kathryn, kay Julia Montes, kay Julia Barretto. Parang umiikot talaga ko sa love team. Sanay ako to work with other people," he said.
