One rules the Universe and the other lords over the Tills. So what happens when Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Box Office Vice Ganda meet? The two queens meet, rather clash, in Gandarrapido: Revenger Squad, Star Cinema and Viva Films’ entry in the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). In one scene (highlighted in the trailer), Pia stuns Vice with a big slap on the face. “It was funny and at first, I didn’t know how to do it so I wouldn’t hurt Vice,” recalled Pia. You see, during the shoot, Pia did so weakly that Vice told her to hit him harder and Pia did just that, prompting Vice to remind her goodhumoredly, “Pia, hindi pa ‘take’!”

Here’s more about the two queens in a one-on-two:

(To Vice): You are considered the queen of MMFF. Are you pressured to keep that title?

Vice: Even without a title, I still pressure myself to always improve my next project. I’m not contented with whatever I have at the moment. I make sure na pagbutihin ko at lampasan yung ganda ng last project ko.

(To Pia) How was it working with Vice for the first time?

Pia is Kweenie, a superheroine with a super power called smizenopsis (‘hypnotism with a smize’)

Pia: Working with Vice was a lot of fun. I’m glad that my first starring role in a movie was with Vice. He made it so easy because he guided and was so funny at the same time. We did have some girl talk about love and sometimes beauty tips. Vice is like the sister I never had. He’s amazing!

Describe your roles in the movie.

Vice: My character’s name is Gandarra, a superhero na nakakuha ng kapangyarihan sa bertud ng isang lipstick.

Pia: My character’s name is Kweenie, a superheroine with a super power called smizenopsis, a kind of hypnotism with a smize.

What about your best scenes?

Vice: My best scene is the one in which I’m fighting with the major villain. It was very emotional and very dramatic.

Vice is Gandarra, a superhero who draws power from a lipstick

Pia: The best are the fight scenes. We were guided by experts who worked in international films so the choreography was really good.

(To Vice) You used to be directed by Wenn Deramas in several hits. Now, you were directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal for the second time (the first was in Beauty & the Bestie last year). Any difference in Wenn’s directorial style and Joyce’s?

Vice: Very different. Parang apples and lemons. Magkaibang-magkaiba. They cannot be compared to each other.

(To Pia) What other roles do you want to play?

Pia: A lot more. I wouldn’t mind playing a superheroine again though. There are many superheroines with different powers so the possibilities are endless, so many other superheroines to explore.

(To Pia) Three actors you would like to work with?

Pia: Enrique Gil, Piolo Pascual and Joshua Garcia.

What do you expect in 2018?

Vice: I expect 2018 to be better even if 2017 has been a good year. God has been mysterious. He’s like a magician. Ang dami puwedeng gawin sa akin at ipagawa sa akin. Akala nag-peak na ang career. It turned out that He had many more plans for me. I welcome the New Year and the challenges coming my way.

Pia: We’re working on a travel show. Hopefully, another movie. I’m planning to release a book. Keeping my fingers crossed that all of these will happen.
