MANILA, Philippines — What if you can talk to time, death and love in human form? What would you say?

That is what the film “Collateral Beauty” made possible to its lead characters.

Howard, brilliantly played by two-time Academy award nominee Will Smith, is a successful New York advertising agency executive who got lost over grief after his six-year-old daughter died of illness. He then turned to writing and expressing his anger, pain and other thoughts to abstractions: time, death and love.

However, to Howard’s disbelief, these abstractions responded to him and he was able to personally converse with them through the help of his friends and colleagues, Whit (Edward Norton), Claire (Kate Winslet) and Simon (Michael Peña). These friends took this as an opportunity to move forward their career amid their dying business and at the same time help Howard cope.

Time, death and love are personified by Raffi (Jacob Latimore), Brigitte (Helen Mirren) and Amy (Keira Knightly), respectively.

Aware of his mental instability, Howard then sought help from a support group, which will play a significant role in his healing process, but will he be able to recover from his loss?

Since Howard believes that time, death and love connects every single human being on earth, the film will revolve — and will be resolved — around it. Cliché as it may sound but these personified elements will take viewers to the heart of the film.

“Collateral Beauty” will effectively make you laugh, cry and be inspired with a script that is sure to tug at each heartstrings. It will trigger one’s emotions with the powerhouse cast’s moving but colorful portrayal as well as the exciting plot and meaningful revelations.

It may be added to the list of Will's best drama films.

Although it may appear trying hard by literally explaining what “collateral beauty” is, the film still stood out with its powerful screenplay, in which you will find your way back to life and love and learn the film’s message — that everyone is connected.

“Collateral Beauty” is now showing in cinemas across the country. It is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.
