MANILA, Philippines – Did Jason Francisco confirm separation between him and wife Melai Cantiveros?

On Tuesday, Jason’s “open letter” to their fans circulated online, which was posted in the Instagram account of their daughter Mela.

In the said open letter, Jason narrated how their marital problem rooted from Melai being paired with Carlo Aquino in her recently defunct show “We Will Survive.”

He recalled how Melai assured him that there will be no love teams since the story of the show will focus on friendship.

The Kapamilya comedian asked this because he admitted not feeling comfortable that his wife is being paired with another guy. The same way, he doesn’t like to be paired with another actress.

However, the storyline changed and Melai was paired with Carlo. She assured him that it’ll only be for the pilot episode since her character will get pregnant. Jason agreed to this setup.

However, Jason said he felt uneasy every time Melai would leave for her shoot in Bicol and they would seldom see each other because he’s also shooting for “My Super D.”

It was until after two months, he found out that the storyline of the show has changed again and Carlo’s character is back to being paired with Melai.

He admitted being mad about the changes, which eventually affected their marriage.

Jason then decided to talk to the people behind “We Will Survive” and asked if it would be possible that Melai’s love team with Carlo be put in an end since it was affecting their marriage.

The production, he said, didn’t listen to his plea and instead made a joke out of their marital problem in the set.

“Walang respeto yuon porket kami ay 'di malaking artista eh, kung tawagin nila sa showbiz,” he said, explaining how the joke offended him.

This further affected their marriage, until he was not able to attend to his shoots for “My Super D” as he was deeply affected by their situation.

Jason said that up to this day, they were not able to fix their marital problem, which he said was caused by the usual reasoning “trabaho lang.”

He didn’t deny feeling down that work was more prioritized than family, and shared his belief that people shouldn’t only “grab” and “count” their blessings but also “know” them.

He added that “family is everything.”

In the end, she called out to the Kapamilya network, whom he said should be sensitive about what they’re going through as a married couple.

He said he was saddened that it was them who are suffering the consequence of the network disregarding their plea to save their marriage.

Jason also told the network that as artists, they wanted to be a model of strengthening a family the same way that the network wanted to teach this to their viewers.
