MANILA, Philippines – Mariel Rodriguez maintained that she and husband Robin Padilla didn’t violate election rules.
Mariel was criticized for wearing the shirt with the word “Du30,” while Robin posted a shaded ballot with the names of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and the AMIN Partylist.
On Monday night, she posted on her Instagram account the guidelines released by the Commission on Election regarding the do's and don’ts while voting.
In the caption she enumerated her explanation saying, “1. I did not take photos inside the precinct because the comelec in charge told me it was not allowed. photo was taken in my personal car and outside the precinct where volunteers took photos with me as well so I thought I didn't disobey any rule. 2. [none] has seen my ballot. 3. I am aware that you are not allowed to wear a shirt that states the NAME of your candidate or his/her face. DU30 is not his name.”
In the end, she apologized if her actions have offended anyone.
In another post she defended her husband Robin explaining that “ROBIN PADILLA CAN NOT VOTE!!!!!”
She posted a photo of a woman’s Facebook post, showing how one can print a sample ballot from Nueva Ecija which according to the post “gagamitin sana for an infomercial ng aming Mahal na Supremo.”
Mariel then said in the caption that what her husband posted was “A SAMPLE BALLOT!!!”
She even dared anyone who can prove that his husband is guilty and assured them that “I will help you convict him.”
