Celebs remind fellow artists to be responsible voters

MANILA, Philippines — Some celebrities called other celebrities to be models of responsible voters to the public.

Earlier today, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla and Robin Padilla were criticized by netizens after photos of them showing their ballots on social media circulated online.

The Kapamilya love team are seen in the posts holding their ballots, while Robin showed a photo of his ballot on Instagram.

Aiza Seguerra, who like Robin is a vocal supporter of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, reminded other celebrities, “may responsibilidad tayo bilang mga artista. People look up to us.”

So Aiza reminded them not to wear clothes showing their allegiances.

“Bawal magsuot ng damit o ballers na nanduon ang pangalan ng kandidato niyo, or picture ng ballota (sic) with it. Please follow the rules guys," she said.

Aiza’s partner, Liza Diño, echoed her sentiment and said, “May responsibiliad tayo bilang artista upang ipakita na pare-pareho tayong lahat dito. You can easily decline to have pictures taken dahil alam naman nating bawal.”

“No exceptions. No one is above the law,” she added.

Even the daughter of Robin, Kylie Padilla, called the attention of other celebrities to follow election rules.

On her Twitter post she said, “No excuses. Discipline. It’s quite simple. But it’s so hard for us. [Come on]. We want change. We have to be the change.”

She also noted that their celebrity status cannot be recognized on voting day since “we are all just citizens."

"If we cannot follow simple rules today what hope do we have for the future. Medyo nakakalungkot po," she said.

She concluded her post, saying that giving celebrities who are given “special treatment” are being “unfair” to everyone.
