MANILA, Philippines — Joem Bascon is happy and contented with how his life is going at the present.

He's part of "Pangako Sa'yo," which is one of ABS-CBN's top rating shows.

He's also starring in the film "Heneral Luna," where he plays the role of Antonio Luna's right hand, Paco.

"I'm just very happy lang. At least nag-pay off ang hard work," he said in an interview on Thursday. "Minsan kailangan mong mag-pursige lang, e. Sa dami ng artista ngayon I'm just happy na 'andito pa rin ako."

Asked what's the secret for his staying power in the industry, Joem replied: "Siguro as a character actor very adventurous kasi ako sa character, kahit ano gagawin ko, kahit anong ibigay sa akin gagawin ko siya nang buo."

Aside from a good career, the Kapamilya actor's personal life is also in bloom.

He's in a more than four-year relationship with Crisha Crae Johns Uy.

Although they discuss marriage once in a while, Joem said it isn't their priority at the moment.

"We're more focused sa work namin," he explained. "Kumbaga i-enjoy muna namin 'yong personal things na kami lang nakakagawa. Kasi kapag nag-tie up na kami, hindi na namin magagawa siya. Mas iisipin namin ang future namin."

Catch Joem and the lead star John Arcilla in the upcoming film "Heneral Luna," which will be in cinemas starting September 9.
