MANILA, Philippines — AJ Muhlach is happy for his former leading lady Nadine Lustre who is nearing the top of her career.
Nadine is now paired to James Reid since the two starred in the film "Diary ng Panget."
"Happy 'tsaka proud po ako sa kanya," said AJ about Nadine in an interview on Wednesday. "Matagal din po kami nagkasama, alam ko pong gusto niya sumikat and ako rin naman po. Masaya ko na naabot niya pangarap niya."
They started together in the industry when they starred in TV5's youth-oriented show "Bagets," and in the drama series "P.S. I Love You."
Although Nadine is taking her own path now, AJ is not bothered about how his own career is going. He said he prefers to take his time and become a character actor.
"Hindi naman po nagmamadali," he said. "Gusto po talaga ma-explore lahat ng character na puwede ma-explore sa pag-arte. Tingin ko mas makakapag-explore po ako as character actor, kaysa kapag leading man na may i-maintain kang image, sa character actor mas puwede mo laruin."
