Pinay is first runner-up in Miss Asia 2015 pageant

MANILA, Philippines — Alfe Marie Nathanile Uy was named first runner-up in the Miss Asia 2015 pageant held in Kochi, India last week.

Using the hashtag #proudpinoy, the 25-year-old beauty announced her victory on her Facebook page by posting a selfie after the pageant.

In another post, Uy expressed how proud she is to have represented the country in an international competition:

"It's an honor to represent my country Philippines! I will never forget this wonderful experience in my life a great story to share to everyone. Wonderful experience, good memories, friendship, learnings and most importantly we are one family. I would like to thank God for this achievement indeed with him nothing is impossible!"

Uy was a former varsity volleyball captain of Siliman University in Dumaguete, according to her Facebook profile.

Uy competed with 13 other representatives from Asian countries. Miss India Kanika Kapoor won the top title while Miss Azerbaijan Jailla Gulieva was second runner-up.
