MANILA, Philippines - Was Noli de Castro rude to Winnie Cordero in an on-air conversation during one of the episodes of ABS-CBN's nightly news program?

This is the question a number of netizens are asking today on social media as one of the segments from the January 5 episode of the ABS-CBN news program “TV Patrol” turned viral.

In the said program, Cordero--an erstwhile comedienne and currently a segment host for the morning program “Umagang Kay Ganda”--reported on the preparations being done by Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada for the upcoming procession of the Black Nazarene on Friday.

At the end of the report, De Castro commented about the ambulant vendors during the procession.

“Sana’y aksiyunan din ni Mayor Erap yung pakiusap ng mga deboto, Winnie, na yung mga ambulant vendors, lalo na yung mga nagbebenta ng mga fishball--kasi ano yun e, may stick--na basta na lang tinatapon ng mga kumakain, at saka yung mga nagtatapon din ng mga plastic na lalagyan ng tubig," De Castro told Cordero.

"Sana ay wag sumama or sumabay ang mga ambulant vendors sa mga deboto. Yun ang pinakikiusap natin kahit nung isang taon pa,” he added.

Cordero tried to explain that the ambulant vendors are among concerns being looked into by the city admission.

But De Castro cut her off during her explanation.

Netizens immediately reacted to de Castro’s attitude towards Cordero, saying the “TV Patrol” co-anchor was “rude” and “unprofessional.”

Others, however, defended de Castro, noting that the former Vice President is also a Black Nazarene devotee.

Last December, “TV Patrol” co-anchor Korina Sanchez was also slammed by netizens after her on-air comment about typhoon Ruby.
