Jericho: Daniel, Kathryn deserve lead roles in 'Pangako Sa 'Yo' remake

Jericho Rosales: "John Lloyd, I cannot speak for him, he has valid reasons. I respect the guy so much. It's just a project. An actor has a right to say yes or no. It depends sa sitwasyon or sa panahon. I've said no to so many projects." Chuck Smith

MANILA, Philippines – Teen stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo deserve to play the lead roles in the rumored remake of the soap opera “Pangako Sa 'Yo.”

Thus said Jericho Rosales when asked about his opinion on reports that ABS-CBN will remake the hit drama series with Daniel and Kathryn as the lead stars.

Jericho and actress Kristine Hermosa starred in the 2000 drama series “Pangayo Sa 'Yo” as Angelo and Yna from 2000 to 2002. The show catapulted the two into stardom.

“Kung magakakaroon ng remake, sino ba ako para magsabi? Pero kung tatanungin n'yo ako, they deserve to be Angelo and Ina. Kasi ang lakas-lakas ng love team nila,” the actor told members of the press during the launch of the 10th Cinema One Originals film festival on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old artist admits he received an offer to star in the rumored remake. “But I had to say no. Ang decision ko lang talaga, gusto ko lang manood,” he said.

“Natanong din ako for a role, but I said no. Gusto ko lang manuod ng show, gusto kong manood nang hindi ako involved,” Jericho further explained. “Siguro they were being polite, baka. But for me, thank you very much pero gusto kong panoorin lang.”

Jericho will be part of the upcoming drama series “Bridges” with Maja Salvador.

It was earlier reported that John Lloyd Cruz back out of the said TV series. Xian Lim will reportedly replace John Lloyd.

“I’m very, very sad but I understand certain things. There are details that I cannot mention. Of course, 'yung oportunidad to work with John Lloyd, maraming taong nalungkot,” he said.

Jericho added: “John Lloyd, I cannot speak for him, he has valid reasons. I respect the guy so much. It's just a project. An actor has a right to say yes or no. It depends sa sitwasyon or sa panahon. I've said no to so many projects.”

He is currently part of “Red,” an entry in this year's Cinema One Originals.

“Matagal ko nang binitawan yung pagiisip ng awards kasi sagabal lang yan. Just have fun. Definitely nag-enjoy ako sa paggawa ng pelikula,” Jericho said when asked if he's expecting to win an acting award for his role in the independent movie.

The 10th Cinema One Originals will run from November 9 to 18 at the Fairview Terraces, Glorietta, Trinoma, and Greenhills Dolby Atmos theaters.
