Bulaga Lenten drama specials

MANILA, Philippines - Eat, Bulaga! presents six heartwarming tales of a mother, a home, unwavering faith and hope this Lenten season starting today until Holy Wednesday, April 16.

Due to public demand, TAPE, Inc. revives Eat, Bulaga!’s traditional Lenten drama specials after an eight-year lull. The noontime program offers two dramatic episodes a day starting at 11:30 a.m.

Joining the dabarkads in each of the six inspiring stories are Susan Roces, Maricel Soriano and Dennis Trillo, among others.

The six episodes are inspired by true stories of people whose lives were touched by the popular segment, Bayanihan of the Pipol: Juan For All, All For Juan.

Today’s Karugtong ng Kahapon, starring Susan Roces, Paolo Ballesteros, Ehra Madrigal and Tito Sotto, and directed by Mark Reyes, speaks of the importance of family, love and forgiveness. Episode two is Ilaw Ng Kahapon featuring Julia Clarete, Gladys Reyes, Perla Bautista and Dennis Trillo under the direction of Jun Lana. It is inspired by the story of a Cavitena in search of her long-lost mother.

Holy Tuesday’s first episode is Hakbang sa Pangarap with Michael V. Wally Bayola, Bea Binene, Assunta de Rossi and Joey de Leon. Megged by Lana, it follows the tale of a paralytic couple who is able to raise a normal and happy family. Directed by Gina Alajar, the second episode Kulungan Kanlungan, starring Maricel, Pia Guanio, Keempee de Leon, Isabelle Daza and BJ “Tolits” Forbes, is about sibling love amidst a tragedy.

Holy Wednesday’s Mike Tuviera-directed Anyo ng Pag-ibig, with Pauleen Luna, Ryan Agoncillo, Jimmy Santos, Ruby Rodriguez, Jimmy Santos, Krystal Reyes and Valerie Weigman, is an inspirational tale about a woman born with no hair and teeth.

Vic Sotto, Jose Manalo, Anjo Yllana and Ryzza Mae Dizon, meanwhile, share billing in Wednesday’s episode two, the Bibeth Orteza-helmed Pangalawang Bukas, a prodigal son’s story of spiritual renewal.
