A ‘beauty-ful’ affair

The ecumenical wedding of 2011 Miss Universe third runner-up Shamcey Supsup and model/businessman Lloyd Lee at the Church of the Risen Lord (UP Diliman) last Sunday, Dec. 29, will go down in glam-and-glitz history as the most “beauty-ful” affair.

“I’ve never seen so many beauty title-holders in one place,” gushed Funfare’s “beauty watcher” Gerry Diaz, also a bona fide member of Aces & Queens (the group that builds up beauty queens), “and I’m not talking about any beauty pageant, ha!”

Present were some of the Philippines’ most beautiful women led by Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) head Stella Marquez de Araneta (the first Miss International [1960] who represented Colombia), one of the principal sponsors.

“Shamcey’s Bb. Pilipinas sisters were all accounted for,” added Gerry, including 2013 Miss U third runner-up Ariella Arida; 2010 Miss U fourth runner-up Venus Raj; 2012 Miss Supranational third runner-up Elaine Kaye Moll; Czarina Gatbonton (World); Bianca Manalo (Universe); Jennifer Barrientos (Universe); Patricia Fernandez (International);  runners-up MJ Lastimosa, Pia Wurtzbach and Nicolette Henson; Binibini batchmates Selena Antonio-Reyes, Angelia Ong, Monique Teruel, Tina Marasigan, Mary Ann Rose Misa, Jaine Hidalgo, Diana Arevalo and Carolyn Ty (Lloyd’s cousin who introduced him and Shamcey during Shamcey’s 25th birthday in 2011).

“2012 Miss Philippines-World Queenie Rehman was also present,” said Gerry whose Aces & Queens batchmate, Indonesian Albert Kurniawan, did Shamcey’s hair and make-up, styled the way he did when Shamcey competed in the Binibini pageant. “Among the bridesmaids were 2011 Miss Singapore-Universe Valerie Lim and 2011 Miss Korea-Universe Sora Chong, Shamcey’s roommate in Brazil during the Miss U pageant.”

After Shamcey and Lloyd shared their first kiss as a wedded couple, Louie Heredia dedicated the song I Will Be Here to the newly-weds.

“Nice wedding,” said Louie. “I love the couple.”
