Robin Padilla owes acting award to Joyce Bernal

MANILA, Philippines- Robin Padilla admits he has thought of not attending the 29th Metro Manila Film Festival awards night.

But thanks to his wife Mariel Rodriguez, he was encouraged to attend and actually receive the Best Actor award for the film “10,000 Hours.”

He related what happened before they went to the awards night, “kasi akala ko si Vice [Ganda] ang mananalo,” referring to the “Boy, Girl Bakla, Tomboy star.

He said, “Sabi niya [Mariel], ‘wala ka bang balak pumunta?’ I knew it!’”

He added that he felt nervous knowing that he’s up against Vice on the said award, yet since the first day of their taping Robin has felt that “alam ko na mananalo ko kasi nakaka-take five kami ni direk Joyce dahil meron siyang gustong-gusto na acting.

Senator Lacson

Robin admits that the story of their film “10,000 Hours” was inspired from the life story of Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.

He even relates that “Si Senator Lacson ay nakatutok sa aming pelikula sapagkat yung misyon at pinagkunan ng istorya buhay niya, e.” That’s why he’s very confident that their film is “approved” in the eyes of the former senator.

Robin also strongly believes that the people should watch their film because it reveals the other side of the dirty politics here in the Philippines.

With all the awards that their film “10,000 Hours” bagged that night, Robin hopes that this will serve as “hudyat sa mga kababayan natin kung bakit kami nagtamasa ng ganito karaming award, labing-apat na masasabi natin main awards ito.”
