Andrea gives back

MANILA, Philippines - One of the many challenges of being a child celebrity is juggling school and work. For Annaliza star Andrea Brillantes, managing school obligations becomes easier through blended learning, a system that uses current and adaptable educational tools and technology such as tablet PCs, on top of traditional learning aids.

As a blended learning student herself, Andrea recognizes the benefits that modern technology.

She recently partnered with RedDot Philippines, one of the country’s top imaging and mobile device distributors, in a tablet PC-donating event to grade schoolers at the Lupang Pangako Elementary School (LPES) in Barangay Payatas in Quezon City. Knowledge on Tap, or KTap, is a joint venture between Blended Learning Services, Inc. and RedDot Philippines that aims to improve learning among Filipino students through technological advancements.

The event also marks the start of the school’s Reading Enrichment Program, a system currently implemented by other schools in the country in line with the Department of Education’s reading intervention plans.

During the program, the ABS-CBN child wonder helped out in granting to LPES three Polaroid Elixir 10 units, one of Polaroid’s most innovative tablets yet. The 10-inch tablet showcases a speedy 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 6600mAh cell, generous internal and external memory capacities, WiFi and HD resolution — all of which guarantee seamless and long-lasting performance and processing speeds up to 50 percent faster than its counterparts. It also features the Intel Education Software (IER), a comprehensive suite of educational applications that allows both students and teachers to efficiently manage e-Learning in classrooms. It would be easier for instructors to access and impart teaching materials — which can be displayed to a wider projection board via the HDMI port — to a large student population.
