Liver health talk

MANILA, Philippines - Our liver is the organ responsible for an enormous number of metabolic activities. The liver is an organ about the size of a football that sits just under your rib cage on the right side of your abdomen.

Without the liver, it is almost impossible to digest and absorb food.

But this organ can be affected by many kinds of disease. Liver problems include a wide range of diseases — they can be inherited, or liver problems can occur in response to viruses and chemicals. Improper liver care can increase risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, chronic fatigue and allergies.

MedTalk, hosted by Angel Jacob, airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Solar News Channel.
