BBC’s Top Gear zooms into Solar News

MANILA, Philippines - The iconic BBC motoring show religiously watched around the world is now in the Philippines on free-to-air Solar News Channel (formerly TALKtv). Top Gear enjoys a fanatical following.

It’s watched by an estimated 350 million viewers per episode in 198 countries and territories worldwide; its Facebook page has a mind-boggling 14 million friends; and the brand has sold 1.2 million tickets for its live events, a documented measure of its likeability.

Hosted by the legendary Jeremy Clarkson along with his perfect foils, Richard Hammond and James May, Top Gear is among the best-loved and most-watched shows of BBC.

Filipinos will be grateful for this practical side of the show. The Pinoy’s worship of the ultimate ride is largely undocumented, but it’s a safe bet that this aspiration is accomplished by a prosperous few simply by buying the best-engineered automobile currently out in the market, despite the harsh luxury tax.

Top Gear’s initial airing is Sunday nights at 9 with replays on Tuesday nights at 8 on Solar News Channel. It is available on free TV Channel 21, Sky Cable Channel 16, Global Destiny Channel 28, Cignal Channel 10 and Cablelink Channel 14.
