Ang Babae sa Septic Tank off to Boracay

MANILA, Philippines - In the tradition of bringing blockbuster films to the country’s summer party capital, Cinema One holds the Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank screening at the White House Beach Resort, Station 1, Boracay tomorrow night at 6.

The movie creatively chronicles a day in the life of three ambitious, passionate but misguided filmmakers who are seeking for exposure in international filmfests. Then, they get Eugene Domingo as their lead actress to do poverty porn. More than its box-office success, film’s concept has captured the Filipinos’ humor.

The lead star of Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank Eugene recently took home the coveted People’s Choice award in the sixth Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong.

Prior to this victory, the movie was nominated in the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival for Best First Feature and Cinema Fairbindet awards, as well as in Vancouver International Film Festival for the Dragons & Tigers Award for Young Cinema.

The film has also been invited to some international filmfests such as the Hawaii International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, Udine Far East Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.

Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank also received good reviews from some renowned film critics. In a review by Asia News Network’s Yasminka Lee, she said, “Ang Babae is brilliant because it is a commentary on this obsession for poverty porn by being humorous and thought-provoking at the same time.”

The event will be hosted by John Lapuz and Cai Cortez. Beachgoers of all ages will definitely enjoy as it also offers fun summer games and sizzling entertainment by fire dancers and the Patikeros.

Gracing the beach and booze event are Jake Cuenca and Megan Young with the equally hot live performance of Callalily, whose vocalist is Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank lead actor Kean Cipriano, and party music from DJ Mars Miranda.

Cinema One is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver, among other cable operators nationwide. For details, log on to http://www.facebook.com/Cinema1channel.
