Palaris: Thrice-told tale

Palaris was filmed three times, the first of which was in 1941, with Fernando Poe in the title role and Paraluman as leading lady. Poe himself wrote the tale of the legendary Palaris, who fought for the oppressed during the Spanish regime. The original Palaris was produced by X-Otic Films and directed by Garcia Verches.

In 1946, Poe topbilled, produced and directed a sequel titled Awit ni Palaris opposite Flora Mirasol.

In the ’50s, a third version was made, Anak ni Palaris, starring Fernando Poe Jr. opposite Rosita Noble and directed by Mario Barri.  — RKC
