MANILA, Philippines - Mothers for Others, a charity event led by outstanding mom advocates, is partnering with ABS-CBN Foundation in its mission to provide life-saving surgeries to more than 100 of the critical children on the Bantay Bata 163 Pediatric Heart patients’ list. The team behind Mothers for Others, also Bantay Bata advisory board members, are Audrey Zubiri, Carla Ramsey, Dawn Zulueta, Jackie Lhuillier Hess, Kaye Tinga, Lisa Chan, Manny Padilla, Nanette Medved-Po and Rajo Laurel. “The inspiration for the heart initiative itself came from Manny Padilla. He is a heart surgery survivor and when we discovered that there were quite a few patients on the Bantay Bata list that needed heart surgery things just fell into place,” Nanette says.
“As a mother, I think the idea of losing a child unnecessarily is just unthinkable. Nowadays, with the technology and talented doctors we have, saving these children is a responsibility,” Audrey adds.
The project is also made possible through the support of PLDT, SMART, CATS Mercedes Benz, Wilkins and Lifestyle Asia.
Coinciding with Mother’s Day, Mothers for Others is coming up with a Charity Gala Champagne Brunch tomorrow, May 8 at Makati Shangri-La Hotel. The exclusive by-invitation only event shall gather approximately 600 members of Manila’s most prominent families as an effort to further generate widespread support for its cause. A charity children’s fashion show featuring kids of some of the country’s renowned celebrities will highlight the affair. The designs of Inno Sotto, Rajo Laurel, Rhett Eala, Dennis Lustico, Jun Escario, Paul Cabral, Randy Ortiz, Pepito Albert, Cary Santiago, Patrice Ramos Diaz, Jojie Loren and Ivarluski Asero will be showcased.
“We are truly inspired by the degree of generosity we found around us. Almost everyone we approached to help put this project together said yes immediately and agreed to do it for free,” says Nanette.
