Audrey Hepburn in Cinderella Story

In the 1954 romance-comedy Sabrina, Audrey Hepburn plays the daughter of the chauffeur of a rich New York family who blossoms into a regal lady of fashion after studying in Paris. Sabrina is a Cinderella story, but instead of one Prince Charming it has two, played by Humphrey Bogart and William Holden.

Sabrina trumpets the Oscar trophies of the three lead stars: Bogart for The African Queen, Holden for Stalag 17 and Hepburn for Roman Holiday… ‘a motion picture as great as its great, great cast!’

Hepburn merited an Oscar nomination for Sabrina, but critics were won over by Bogart for playing ‘drawing-room comedy with aplomb.’ As always, Hepburn was every inch a queenly presence, a fashion icon.     – RKC
