Singing their way to Manuvu

MANILA, Philippines - Ballet Philippines features an exciting and contemporary musical production of Alice Reyes’ groundbreaking pop rock opera ballet titled Tales of the Manuvu.

Robert Seña, Guji Lorenzana, Banaue Miclat, Jaime Barcelon, Eladio Pamaran, and Al Gatmaitan are joined by the Makiling rock band in this depiction of the first man and woman in the journey that created the earth and sky. Tales of the Manuvu is a tale of our origins, our nationhood, and our love and appreciation for the primal forces of nature.

Choreographed by Paul Morales, and highlighted by vibrant sets and costumes, the ballet promises a definite feast for the senses, with the renowned dance company employing multi-media technology in retelling the Manobo myth of creation.

Written by National Artist for literature Bienvenido Lumbera with music by Dero Pedero, Manuvu features the OPM platinum hit Noong Unang Panahon, bringing audiences a tale of our origins, our mortality and with the separation of Heaven and Earth, the lesson on how one must be the master of his own fate.
