Aljur: After Zaido, what?

“Mixed feelings,” is Aljur Abrenica’s quick reply when asked about Zaido’s inevitable finale tomorrow night after 24 Oras on GMA 7. “I have heard that there are plans to cast me in another show. But nothing has been finalized or is official,” the StarStruck Ultimate Hunk winner adds. “I have no idea what kind of project is being lined up next for me.”

It will definitely be a big adjustment for someone like Aljur who used to tape at least thrice a week for two shows. The other one is Boy Nxt Door which bowed out on air recently. Fans of Aljur, however, can still catch their idol on S.O.P. either dancing to the latest tune or singing the newest hit on the countdown.

With the way the teen star shares his thoughts during the interview, Aljur is positive that something good might await him after Zaido.

“If ever I’m sad it’s because I won’t be seeing the people I work with on the set,” says Aljur. “I’m happy and I feel privileged that GMA has given me this big project considering that I’m just new in the business.”

If ever projects for him will fizzle out, Aljur plans to spend his spare time going to the gym, attending acting workshops and learning stunts.

Aljur will probably focus all his energy on studying stunts when that sojourn from the limelight comes. Why? Because the Pampanga-born lad’s ultimate dream is to become an action star. He would like to follow in the footsteps of his idols like the late Fernando Poe Jr., Robin Padilla, Ronnie Ricketts, Jackie Chan, Jet Lee and Steven Seagal.

Given his manly build and towering height, Aljur will make a prince of action just like Raymart Santiago and Ian Veneracion.

Zaido, Aljur will surely agree, is a good starting point for his possible career in action. He has had his share of action and fighting scenes on the show.

At this point in his career, Aljur is open to all options. He says he can pursue a career in singing since he used to sing in his school before he was discovered for StarStruck. Aljur can sing a tune and even play the guitar. This is not surprising to those close to him because Aljur comes from a family of musicians and singers. He could also be the next big thing in the dance floor, but says has to do a lot of learning in this area.

At the end of the day, Aljur trusts his career to GMA which has paved the way for his showbiz career.

“I’m thankful because I’m able to maintain my own pad now,” says Aljur of the joys of earning his own keep and living independently. “I pay my bills and buy things like clothes for myself. I can help my parents financing the studies of my siblings.”

For Zaido’s finale, Aljur says televiewers should watch out the twists and turns in the story. They have to find out if Gallian/Zaido Blue (Dennis Trillo) will triumph in his battle against Sigma, Kuuma monsters and the Amazonas and if there will be a chance for Alexis (Marky Cielo) to fulfill his mission as Zaido Green. Fans of Aljur will soon learn his character’s (Cervano) true identity and parents. But the big question of the day is: Will the Zaido team reunite again and topple Le-Ar?

If there’s one thing his playful, naughty character will leave to the young televiewers, Aljur says it’s the fact that everybody can change for the better.
