Morning becomes Electra

When word first circulated that Carmen Electra and her rocker husband Dave Navarro installed a flying trapeze in their bedroom, entertainment weeklies all across America had a field day visualizing (in cramped single paragraphs) how the couple was going to use the device.

Most readers bought the story, including this writer, too.

Just think about it, gorgeous Electra flying the trapeze in the bedroom – naked. It is a killer!

One morning recently, The Philippine Star met with the sexy actress in Beverly Hills during the junket for Miramax’s hilarious comedy Scary Movie 4, the fourth installment to the wacky saga which opens in the Philippines tomorrow.

"No!" Electra exclaimed even before she could settle into her seat as one over-eager journalist immediately asked her about the tabloid tales.

"Isn’t that funny how it turned into? I have always wanted to learn cool tricks. I very much like the idea of a circus. I think there is something magical and sexy about it but still artistic. I’ve been practicing flying trapeze and word came out that I was trying to affix it into my bedroom. It’s so not! Although it was a good idea," the hazel-eyed bombshell said.

So there is no truth at all to stories of her doing the trapeze naked?

"It would be hot. Any girl on that thing would be sexy, but I didn’t say I’d do that. You know, I think, maybe in my costume because I am really obsessed in performing in it," she said.

She also denied that she did a striptease at someone else’s wedding. And the thing with her supposed attraction to Kate Moss? Not true.

"I don’t know, I find her (Moss) beautiful and gorgeous. And I think she has a really great style. I am the kind of girl who would walk right up to another girl and say that they’re pretty and it feels good, really does," she said.

Electra has been married for five years.

The petite model-dancer-actress was first discovered by the singer Prince, who gave the actress her screen name, when she worked as a backup dancer in one of his shows. Since then she has appeared in several movies and TV series most notably in Baywatch, where she mostly appears in her swimsuit. She also recently appeared in Cheaper by the Dozen 2.

In Scary Movie 4, she portrays Holly, a spoof of the blind character in M. Night Shyamalan’s hit thriller The Village.

"I was in the first one. I really didn’t think I was coming back because I wasn’t in the next two, so I was actually very excited," she disclosed.

She also has other reasons why she enjoys doing comedies.

"I love it because you get to do crazy things and get away with it. I don’t know, I think it gives people a chance to see that I have a good sense of humor about myself and that I don’t really take my sexuality as seriously as people kind of think.

"People think that we are crazy sex addicts, that we have sex suits in our bedroom," she laughed. "I am not saying we don’t like sex but we got to our own stuff, too.

"I think people think that I live in lingerie and high heels, like, you know, lounging in the house that way. In Scary Movie, I am in my lingerie, and when I am dancing, I am usually in a kind of sexy outfit, so when I’m home, I just want to be comfortable," the actress revealed.

How does she feel about her being the poster girl of most prison inmates all over the world?

"I don’t know about that," she said. "Yeah, I like it. I love being in front of the camera and I want to try different things. I think it’s cool. It’s kind of flattering in a weird sort of way."

Directed by Jerry Zucker, Scary Movie 4 takes all the exciting plots from War of the Worlds, The Grudge, Saw 1 & 2, Million Dollar Baby, Brokeback Mountain and The Village and turns them into a solid hysterical movie. The film also stars Anna Fariss, Regina Hall, Leslie Nielsen, Bill Pullman and Craig Bierko.
