Marvin ‘reinvents’ himself

Marvin Agustin is off to a pretty good start this 2004. After enjoying fame as a teen heartthrob and making a name for himself as an actor and comedian, Marvin has reinvented himself by hosting a new reality TV show, To the Max which airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN.

Marvin cannot be thankful enough that ABS-CBN has given him a new show. He hosts To the Max with Rica Peralejo. The first episode Boom si Yaya was a search for a nanny for Kris Aquino.

"We created something new in the afternoon programming slot," says Marvin. "We were able to give someone a job as Kris’ yaya. It’s a lifetime prize, a livelihood. We also gave the first week winner a scholarship for medicine or law, donated by Kris."

The second week was the Yaya Might Be You episode, where the winner became part of the cast of the ABS-CBN soap series It Might Be You. The third week, meanwhile, signed in aspiring comedians in Sing in the Clowns.

As host of To the Max Marvin has received favorable reviews. Even ABS-CBN executive vice president Charo Santos-Concio was impressed by Marvin’s renewed hosting confidence. "I commend Marvin," she says.

"His air of confidence is sakto. He was able to reinvent himself, as a host and person."

Marvin is seen in three ABS-CBN programs. Aside from To the Max he gets to flex his acting muscles in the drama series Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas. He also displays his flair for comedy in the Ai-Ai de las Alas sitcom. Tanging Ina.

Even in film, Marvin is never wanting in offers. After getting critical acclaim for his acting in Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Malikmata, Marvin is looking forward to doing another challenging role on the big screen with offers coming his way. He hopes to do an independent film project given a chance.

"I personally attend to all my text messages," Marvin says. "I always see to it that I text back everybody so they will not be disappointed."

Marvin will celebrate his eighth anniversary in showbiz with a grand fans’ day in April or May. This is part of his thanksgiving for the love and support he has received from his followers for the past eight years.
