Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday said he is only exercising his “power as city mayor” provided in the Local Government Code when City Hall officials and employees forced their way into Cebu Port Authority and Metro Cebu Water District premises last April 1 and April 16, respectively.

The Metro Cebu Water District is willing to sit down with the newly-appointed OIC general manager if he is interested, assuring that no resolution will be issued to bar his entry inside the office.

In the coming days, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is expected to issue a special permit to desilt the Mangitngit and Luyang rivers in Carmen town and eventually maximize the water production of these water sources.

A legislator in Cebu City suggested that the Metro Cebu Water District should use smaller trucks to desilt the Buhisan Dam as opposed to bigger trucks that might have more difficult getting access to the dam.
