CEBU, Philippines —  Living up to its noble vision of lending a hand to the needy ones especially during hard times, the Run for Sight Foundation in partnership with CebuDoc Group will be staging the iRun for Luzon, a virtual charity race for the benefit of typhoon victims in Luzon.

“During Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, the Run for Sight Foundation and CebuDoc Group were able to provide help to hundreds of our fellow Filipinos in Leyte. Since then, we have not stopped carrying our mission of touching as many lives as we can by doing the sport that we are passionate about – Running,” said CebuDoc Group’s President and Run For Sight Chairman, Dr. Potenciano “Yong” S. Larrazabal III.

“That is why we are launching the iRun for Luzon, a benefit run for our fellow Filipinos affected by the recent typhoons in Luzon. By doing this, we hope to inspire many to go back on track despite the pandemic while observing health protocols to enrich themselves and donate to help in rehabilitating lives,” he added.

Open to all, from beginners to seasoned and elite runners, the sporting event for a cause allows runners to finish a cumulative distance anywhere within a certain period. They may choose from a 3-kilometer, 5K, 10K, 21K, or 42K distance.

“It will be a virtual running event where you can run anywhere, anytime on the given dates. You can complete the race at your own pace,” said Larrazabal. “It’s also an opportunity for everyone to get back on track while maintaining health protocols but still be physically active amid pandemic and knowing that you are not just doing it for yourself but also for others.”

Registration will start on November 30 and ends on December 18. The race period is from December 5 to 19, 2020. eBIBs will be sent via e-mail upon registration.

Runners will be asked to track their race using the tracking app of their choice. Any app will do but recommended apps are Garmin, Strava and Runkeeper. It should have the actual date, rendered time, and distance (km).

After completing their respective runs, participants will be asked to submit proof of their results in order to receive their finisher’s items that include medal, singlet, and eCertificate.

Entry fee is P999 in all categories. One may visit www.runforsight.net for online registration or the official Facebook page of CebuDoc Group for updates. (from PR)
