Lucky 7 for Sykes, Tech Mahindra pulverizes CTC-BPO

CEBU, Philippines — Former collegiate stars Victor Rabat and Jan Auditor stole the show as the Sykes Pioneers tamed the short-handed Fusion BPO Dragons, 73-65, to keep their undefeated record intact in the Elite Classic of the Tanduay CSCC Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 15 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Rabat cashed in 17 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals while Auditor banged in 15 markers, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals for the Pioneers, who firmed up their hold of the solo lead with an unblemished 7-0 record.

Justine Marie Mier scattered 21 points, Jonathan Subelario scored 18, while Ryan Embalsado nailed 13 markers but their efforts proved futile as the Dragons slumped to their fourth straight loss after a rousing 3-0 start.

In the other Elite Classic games, Accenture Sharks spanked the Wipro Tigers, 68-60, while the Dreamscape Lions roared past the Teleperformance Vipers, 80-74.

Aldene Batino finished with 15 points spiked with 10 rebounds and four steals as the Sharks stayed at solo second place with a 7-1 win-loss mark.

Jeanne Paolo Perez and Sherwin Resilla also figured prominently with 23 combined points in the Sharks’ fourth straight victory.

On the other hand, Ralph Belarmino sizzled with 29 points on top of 17 rebounds, four assists, and three steals while Matthew Oche tallied 15 points, 18 boards, and three assists for the Lions, who now hold a 3-4 card.

Rahne Laborted, Herson Pino and Jay Ar Otto conspired for 47 points but to no avail as the Vipers absorbed their third setback in eight starts.

In the EVO League, the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties were ruthless in eviscerating the hapless CTC-BPO Trojans, 99-35, to remain at second spot in the standings with a 6-1 slate.

After an explosive 31-5 start, the outcome of the match was already a foregone conclusion when the Tech Mighties upped their lead to 36 points at halftime, 49-13.

The Tech Mighties kept their relentless offensive in the final half where they further battered the Trojans, 50-22, to come up with a 64-point massacre in what is by far the most lopsided triumph in E-Leagues’ history.

Five players cracked double figures for the Tech Mighties in Robert Rebano (15), No lan De la Peña (14), Steven Cabanday (12), Dave Indiana (12) and Danny Jamandron Jr. (11).

Jim Vincent Jimena had 14 points for the Trojans, who are still without a win in six matches.

In other games, Concentrix Converters (4-4) bested the QBE Generals (0-5), 75-57, while the Fluor Pandas (4-3) subdued the Optum Knights (5-2), 71-61. (FREEMAN)
