Voltaire Sevillano rapid chessfest set forJuly 13
CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano chess aficionados will once again keep their hands busy this weekend with the staging of the Voltaire Sevillano Annual FIDE Rapid Chess Tournament slated on July 13 at the Barracks Chess Club in Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
During the 9-round Swiss system competition, each player will have a time control of only 10 minutes plus a three-second increment per game.
The champion will take home P5,000 while the second to fourth finishers will pocket P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
Those who will occupy the fifth to 10 spots will receive P300 each. The lucky 13th placer will get a P1,000 bonus.
The top performers in the 13 under, 10 Under, female, unrated and those with under 1900 ratings will receive P800 each.
A Eureka chess set and a Leap chess clock are up for grabs for the non-winners via raffle draw.
Registration fee is pegged at P150 for kiddies and P250 for regular players.
