USPF seeks golden double in CESAFI volleyball event
CEBU, Philippines — The University of Southern Philippines Foundation spikers shoot for a double championship as they take on separate rivals in Game 2 of the best-of-three secondary volleyball finals of the 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season today at the USPF gymnasium in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
In the girls division, USPF goes for the jugular while the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) fight for dear life in their 1:30 p.m. duel.
“We are blessed to have amazing players who are determined to win every game,” said USPF girls volleyball head coach Yolanda Rizarri.
Then a newly-installed coach, Rizarri guided USPF to end its seven-year title drought last season.
“We have come a long way for this,” Rizarri added. “Training has been fundamental with this team and I’m very happy for this opportunity again for another championship title.”
In the boys finals at 3:30 p.m., USPF will also try to finish off the defending champion University of San Carlos (USC) in their own race-to-2 series.
