UC, SCC jins shine in regional tikefest

CEBU, Philippines — The promising jins of University of Cebu (UC) and St. Cecilia’s College reigned supreme in two separate disciplines in the Regional Inter-School Taekwondo Championships over the weekend at the Times Square in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

UC of coach Michael and Frauline Realista and Lordjay Guia garnered the most number of medals in the kyorugi or sparring event with 17 golds, six silvers, and one bronze.

The tried and tested Mayn Coran and Sal Louis Estrada together with Kissha Barro handed UC one gold each in the senior division.

In the junior level, among the UC bets who came up with golden performances were Frank Mark Escuadro,  Wendil Jay Rama, Tam Daniel Dalimot, Job Canedo, Clint Torrence Morales,  Royda Jane Ranile, Sophia Alexandra Labra, and Jenelle Fatima Monsanto.

The cadets also contributed four golds behind the efforts of Jhunvic Deguma, Fiona Sedullo, Maria Martha De la Victoria, and Christine Villasor.

The University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban was at far second with two golds, two silvers, and a bronze, while USJ-R Main  got two golds, two silvers, and a bronze.

In the poomsae or forms, St. Cecilia’s College got the top spot with seven golds, four silvers and two bronzes.

The University of San Carlos wound up second with three golds and four silvers followed St. Augustine with two golds, one silver, and three bronzes. (FREEMAN)
