Quo Vadis, LeBron James?

NBA BUZZ - Bobby Motus - The Freeman

It was not after 11 years that there was a 4-0 sweep in the NBA Finals.  The last time was in 2007 and in both cases involved a player and a team who happened to be on the wrong end of the broom.  Tony Parker and the San Antonio Spurs owned the league in 2007.  This year, Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors reigned supreme.  In both cases, they polished Cleveland’s butt clean and the face of their franchise, LeBron James.  Yup, twice Lebron was broomed.

GSW’s 4-0 victory over Cleveland was only the ninth Finals 4-0 sweep on record in league history and the feat is the Warriors’second, the last one in 1975 when they blanked the then Washington Bullets for the championships.

It was a sorry loss for LeBron that he gave up with more than 4 minutes remaining in the game.  Not only him but the whole Cleveland team refused to battle the Warriors.  And what’s the drama with the bandaged right hand during media interview.  Without a doubt, LeBron is the best of the lot but suggesting that they could have done better without the injury?  That was stupidly self-inflicted.  The Cavs plain and simple just could not keep up with a more superior line-up.

Reportedly, several teams are interested in the services of LeBron.  It was also reported that he would be entertaining ideas of switching uniforms if he sees that that team would be capable of giving him a title.  Although nearing 34, he can still dominate the league and overpower players much younger than him.  Yes, maybe two more years.

The LA Lakers have the most negotiating power because of the mid-season salary dump they did.  Reportedly, they are eyeing LeBron, Paul George and Chris Paul.  This would make Julius Randle, Lonzo Ball and maybe another young talent expendable and would involve multiple teams to complete the deal.   Sure, the Lakers could be in title contention if they do get the trio but only for so long.  CP3 has a history of getting injured in the playoffs.

If I were Laker management, I’ll only go for George considering that he’s 28-years old and offer Randle a max contract.  He can play the 2- and 3-spot and paired with Randle, they would have a formidable frontcourt.

The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly also are interested in LeBron.  With him on board and together with Joel Imbiid and Ben Simmons, the Sixers will have a long playoff run.  I suppose Bron will be with better productive company in Philly compared to Cleveland.

Houston also is on the radar because of CP3.  If LBJ does become a Rocket, what happens to James Harden?  LeBron will go insane on The Beard with too much dribbling considering that he (LBJ) also demands for the ball.

Best case scenario for me is for Bron to stay in Cleveland and the team make another overhaul, including Tyronn Lue.  If you have a timeout left with the score tied and a few seconds remaining in a critical game, it must be used.  Goodness gracious Coach, you can’t bring timeouts home!

It is time for George Hill and JR Smith to change zip codes.  Maybe the Cavs should also think of making a deal for Paul George then chances will be strong for the player they call The King to remain a Cav.  They must work on keeping their main attraction and build up on a coming Episode 5 with the Warriors.  Then revenge will be sweet for LeBron.  Yup, if they can solve the riddle that is Golden State which could remain unsolved for at least three more years.
