"Have some heart, have some pride."

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – These are the encouraging words of multi-titled coach Glen Ramos to each of his players at Team ERCO Bro Nationals on the eve of their departure to Manila for the 2014-2015 Philippine Football Federation-Smart National Men's Club Football Championships that will start on Thursday.

After their tune-up match against Samba FC yesterday, Ramos spoke with his wards, hoping to draw the competitive fire in them despite the little time they spend altogether for training.

It may be an answered prayers from Sto. Niño that the likes of Azkals players Chieffy Caligdong, Paolo Pascual, Ronnie Aguisanda and Reynald Villareal, all from the Green Archers United FC, were loaned to them by the PFF and United Football League, but Ramos said it is still hard to say about their chances in the final battle.

"Hopefully they can really contribute individually. But you know, it's hard to expect too much from them. You cannot expect them to play hard for this team. Syempre, mahadlok nya ma-injury," said Ramos.

Ramos admitted that he has problems with the dynamics of his team having encountered at least three main problems along the way including that of their training, practice matches and commitment of players.

"Wala gyud mi training nga kami tanan because of the players' work or studies. Then in practice matches, we had no standard field to use kay di pwede ang Cebu City Sports Center because of the Sinulog. Pasalamat na lang mi sa Don Bosco that we were allowed to use a field though dili ang standard size. Then third ang commitment of players, those who left the team at the last minute ug sa mga napuno, we cannot really expect them to play hard," said Ramos.

Ramos' only hope is that all his players will still be motivated to showcase their wares even if they are not playing for their mother clubs.

"I told them, you are playing for Cebu City now. Hopefully, you will have some heart, some pride as we are going to face the top six teams in Manila and other qualifiers in the country," said Ramos.
