USJ-R belles upend USC in CESAFI volleyball semis
CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Jose-Recoletos girls’ squad won their first semifinal assignment over top seed University of San Carlos, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, in the secondary volleyball event of the 14th season of Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc., at the Aznar Coliseum.
USJ-R belles lost the first set before putting a better offense in the next two sets that gave them momentum en route to their first victory in the round-robin semis.
The USJ-R girls’ victory made up for the loss of their women’s team against USC last Monday. USC survived a tough four-set battle against USJ-R, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-12.
Meanwhile, there will be six games to be played tomorrow in the mens, womens and girls division at the Aznar Coliseum.
The top two squads at the end of the semifinal round will play in a best-of-three finals series, while the third and fourth ranked teams will battle for the third place trophy. (FREEMAN)
