JV Shop ‘97 routs Dewfoam ‘88; Wild Rice 2007 stays winless in CECABA

CEBU, Philippines - JV Shop n Shop '97 preyed on absence of man mountain Ricky Yu to demolish Dewfoam '88, 61-38, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Friday night at the CEC gym.

Class '97 was in complete command of the match after posting an early 18-13 lead. The JV Shop-backed squad then outscored the short-handed Dewfoam side in the final half, 29-29, to come up with a 23-point blowout.

Denver Dano cashed in 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists, while Aubrey Jones Ibones added 10 points and four rebounds as Class '97 upped its win-loss record to 7-6.

No player submitted twin figures for Class '88, which absorbed its only fourth loss in a dozen games.

In the other game, Joseph Aljhune Areja had 16 points, five rebounds and two steals as Best World Lifestyle 2004 streaked past the skidding Wild Rice 2007, 58-54.

Rodney Lindimar Co banged in 14 points and nine rebounds and Bryan Harry Labus added 12 markers on top of seven rebounds and four assists for Class 2004, which actually had a sluggish start resulting to a five-point deficit after the first 10 minutes of play, 9-14.

But Class 2004 countered with a searing 18-6 run in the second quarter to seize the uppehand at halftime, 27-20, for good.

Class 2004 now holds a 7-5 win-loss card, while Class 2007, which was led by Raymark Ryan Ong with 29 points, nine rebounds and two assists, stayed winless in 11 starts. (FREEMAN)
