Night of knockouts: Marco Singwangcha, Gerpaul Valero easily dismantle foes

CEBU, Philippines - Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo-Singwangcha kept his unbeaten record intact with a masterful third round stoppage of Jessie Tuyor of Dipolog City in the main event of the "Fighters of the Future" boxing extravaganza that was loaded with knockouts last Sunday night at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

The two protagonists fiercely exchange blows right from the start until in the third round when Demecillo-Singwangcha landed a powerful shot to the mid-section that sent the hapless Tuyor down at the seat of his pants.

Tuyor, still gasping for breath, failed to get up at the count of 10, prompting referee Tony Pesons to wave off the bout at the 2:13 mark of round three.

Demecillo-Singwangcha, thus, stretched his sizzling streak to 18 now spiked with 14KOs to the delight of his Thai benefactor Naris Singwangcha who generously handed out $200 bonus to each of his fighter who dished out KO wins in the slambang event he bankrolled in partnership with RWS International Promotions of Cebuano topnotch promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud.

In the supporting main event, Gerpaul 'Captain Hook" Valero of Noy Pacing Flores Stable knocked down Ronnie Sunido of Zamboanga City twice in succession on the way to score a resounding TKO victory at 2:59 of the second round.

It was Valero's 12th straight win since he hooked up with the eagle-eyed Cebuano trainer Brix Flores in January last year. Prior to that, the 21-year-old Valero holds a pitiful record of only one win in 17 pro fights with three draws.

Of the eight bouts featured, only two went the full distance.

Ardie Boyosi stopped Dondon Narvaez at 1:27 of the second round, Jayson Redondo Singwangcha pummeled Jomar Ministerio with punishing body shots for a second round TKO triumph, while Llanera Singwangcha let loose a solid right uppercut to the jaw that sent Jayson Inso sprawling on the canvas in round five.

Tabanao Singwangcha pulled of the shortest match of the evening as he only needed one full round to force Jerome Baja to wave the white flag of surrender.

In the other bouts, Canoy Singwangcha punched his way to a one-sided unanimous decision win over Garry Rojo, while Belmar Plaza and Richard Rosales fought to a split draw. (FREEMAN)
