- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Clive Fermin, Panpan Reroma and Rap-rap Gutierrez are already the virtual champions in their respective classes heading into the final leg of the 2012 Kartzone Superkart Series at the Kartzone racetrack in Kasambagan, this city.

After six legs, Fermin posted an unassailable 271 points to clinch the overall title in the Honda expert class.

A karter can obtain a maximum of 50 points per leg and Fermin’s closest pursuer Dondi Binoya only has 191 points. Lord Seno is at third with 124 points.

Reroma is also beyond reach in the KT masters class with 292 points, way ahead of Regan King with 219 points.

Gutierrez, for his part, took the overall supremacy in the SQ cadet division with 266 points.

Four other divisions, however, are still anybody’s game, including the battle for the coveted 'Karter of the Year' award.

Leading the pack of KOY contenders is Jette Calderon, who is also the front-runner in the premiere KT expert category. Calderon outsmarted Tonyo Carcel in the last leg to pad his lead with 240 points. Carcel is just three points behind Calderon as Joseph Rojo runs third with 223 points.

Vince Rojo, for his part, is momentarily on top of the KT novice class with 268 points followed by Kali Carcel with 259 points.

Liam Sacal leads the charge in the mini ROK category with 258 points followed by Jarond Messina with 234 points, while Frederick Cortes is the man to beat in the Honda novice class after posting 224 points. (FREEMAN)
