Toledo identifies pilot areas for Kasibulan program
CEBU, Philippines - Eleazar “Elying” Toledo, the designated grassroots development officer in Cebu by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), has already identified two cities and four municipalities in the province that will serve as pilot areas for the continuation of the Kasibulan grassroots development program.
These are Talisay and Danao along with Consolacion, Balamban, Barili and Dumanjug.
The football festival is slated to kick off this June in Consolacion.
“When we say grassroots, it is for everybody, everywhere and by everyone,” said coach Toledo.
The festival includes the coaches and educators courses as well as skills assessment and training of the participants.
The Cebu Football Asssociation (CFA), local governments units and the Deparment of Education (DepEd) are expected to give their full support in this worthwhile project.
Around 60 coaches and 500 youngsters aged six to 12 years old will be involved in each area.
The first wave of training will last for six months. Afterwhich, an evaluation will be made to be followed by the talent identification.
Those who have great potentials will be endorsed by the grassroots development officers to the Centre for Excellence for further training.
The pool of talents will then compose the next set of the Philippine Team members. - THE FREEMAN
