CEBU – “It’s a go! Runners need not bother themselves with speculations but must continue to train because it’s definitely a go,” Taborada told The FREEMAN during a telephone conversation yesterday.
Taborada, president of the Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC) is referring to the second staging of the Sinulog 21K half-marathon on January 17, 2009 the day before the Sinulog grand parade.
Last year, the event became the first official 21K race in the country that had the blessings of PATAFA.
Taborada said he’s expecting about 1,000 runners to join in this year’s edition and compete in the 5K and 21K events. The runners will run the same course that PATAFA laid out last year, in a race that CERC will again manage.
Taborada further said Mizuno and Cathay Pacific would be the main sponsors of this year’s race. He said, however, that individuals or companies that may want to become part of the event as sponsors may contact Marlene Calo of ASAP Advertising at 09067953563.
Registration for the race starts next week at the Sugangan Restaurant along F. Llorente Street, care of Jess Taborada (09175251259) and at the PSC office at the Cebu City Sports Complex. (RBO) (THE FREEMAN)
