CCPO expects rallies on Labor Day
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has allotted a team of Civil Disturbance Management to monitor the activities of Labor Day on Sunday, May 1.
CCPO deputy director for operations, Police Lt. Colonel Wilbert Parilla, said they have the CDM on standby to maintain the peace and order as they anticipate rallies by some cause-oriented groups.
Aside from this, they also alerted the police stations in the city where rallies are usually conducted, namely the Police Station 2 or the Abellana Police Station, Waterfront Police Station, and the Carbon Police Station.
“So start sa morning mag-monitor lang ta until sa hapon, ga-standby atong CDM platoon just in case dunay mga rallyist na mogawas,” said Parilla.
According to Parilla, one platoon of CDM corresponds to 32 personnel. Aside from these, they also have mobile cars that will monitor the city during the day.
“Normal duties ra na nato atong ibutang,” said Parilla.
Further, Parilla said they are willing to provide security measures to the government agencies that will request to monitor their respective activities in line with the Labor Day.
Parilla said that the guidelines on “no permit, no rally” is still in place. He, however, said that those groups who fail to secure one will be given at least five minutes to air their calls before they will be instructed to disperse.
“So far wala pay ni apply for rally. Di man jud na sila mag apply for rally to permit,” said Parilla. — GMR (FREEMAN)
