Iris Hazel M. Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office has deployed personnel around the 28 accredited quarantine hotels in the city to make sure that no one could run-away from the required quarantine period.

This is in line with the directive of the Philippine National Police headquarters to avoid the recurrence of an incident in the National Capital Region wherein an individual went out from her quarantine hotel and tested positive for the COVID virus after.

"Yesterday nagsugod nata og deploy sa tanang accredited na hotel nga gihimong quarantine area sa tanang OFW and Returning Overseas Filipino," said Police Lt. Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations at CCPO.

According to Parilla, the Bureau of Quarantine has given them a list of all accredited quarantine hotels in the city in which they will be guarding 24 hours during their isolation period.

In each quarantine hotel, the CCPO has allotted at least two police personnel each shift.

"To make sure na dili to mabalik tong nahitabo sa kaulohan nga wala pa mahuman iyang six days na minimum (quarantine), 24 hours ni sila magbantay," said Parilla.

He added, the police personnel will be also held accountable should an individual under quarantine can get out without completing their given period.

The police personnel deployed are from the police stations having jurisdiction of the location of the quarantine hotels.

The deployment started Thursday, January 6. — GMR (FREEMAN)
