CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government has launched a quick-response (QR) code for easier access to vaccine registration, which was first shared Thursday night by Councilor David Tumulak.

“[It’s] another way to register online for those Cebu City residents who want to be vaccinated,” said Tumulak, one of the cluster heads of the city’s Vaccination Advisory Board (VAB).

Once scanned, the QR code will automatically direct to the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) online registration form where interested vaccine applicants have to fill in the required information such as complete name, accurate contact number and allergy history, among others.

The city councilor also emphasizes the registrant’s role to ensure that they provide the correct details.

“Naa man guy uban gud nga magtoo, humana sila kaparehistro unya dili diay successful, or nakaparehistro sila apan aduna diay sipyat gamay sa cellphone number, mao nang wala sila kadawat og mga text confirmation,” said Tumulak.

He further shared that there are also instances that others had clicked the wrong options.

“Kana bitaw’ng naay [question], do you want to be vaccinated? Ang uban ang na pislit no,” the councilor explained.

He also encouraged the residents who have senior citizens relatives or neighbors to help them become registered in the city’s vaccination roll-out.

“Gihangyo ang pamilya sa mga senior citizens dinhi sa syudad nga ilang iparehistro online ilang lolo, lola, mama, papa nga mga senior citizens nga gustong magpabakuna,” posted Tumulak in his Facebook page.

“Kami nag-awhag niadtong mga humana ug pabakuna, kung kamo nakakita ug senior citizen unya ganahan siya magpa bakuna, tabangi ninyo palihug. Gamita inyong selpon nga makaparehistro sila online,” he further encourage during his radio program “Kaabag.”

Registration forms are also available at barangay halls to be manually filled-up for those who have constraints in registering online.

Registered individuals are advised to wait for a confirmation text that will contain their schedule, and to make sure to bring their own ballpen, I.D, certificate of employment for employees and to observe safety protocols at all times on their day of vaccination. —Sly Anthonnete E.
