PRO-7’s community pantry starts today

CEBU, Philippines —  The Police Regional Office 7 has joined the nationwide simultaneous launching of the Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank which will be available to the public starting today in different areas of the region.

The launching ceremony was held yesterday morning.

According to PRO-7 director, Police Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo, this is the Philippine National Police’s take on the community pantry which aims to extend help for those who are in need.

“Atong suportahan og maayo ang programa sa atong mahal na Chief PNP, Police General Guillermo Eleazar, kining Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank, kay usa man sad ni nga makita nato nga sa ginagmay nga paagi makatabang ta sab atong mga kaigsuonan nga naa sa kalisdanan karong panahona,” Montejo told reporters.

As for this time, Montejo said they welcome all kinds of good and products that the people have donated for the Barangayanihan activity.

“Duna gani koy mga nakita nga tsinelas, mga pitaka, gawas sa mga utanon, mga bugas, mga canned-goods, tanan, kay nakita man nato nga ang panginahanglan dili lang sa pagkaon, bisan gani tambal no,” he added.

As the PRO-7’s resources are limited to sustain the activity, Montejo called on those who are willing to donate to continue their support with the PNP.

Ha added that as long as they have the resources, they would continue to provide for those who are in need through the Barangayanihan daily.

“Nanghinaut nga dili magsawa..atong mga kaigsuonan nga mosuporta para ang sustainability magpadayon gyud, ug mahimo adlaw-adlaw, dinhi sa capacity sa PRO-7 naa ta’y limitations,” said Montejo.

This Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank has been supported with large and various companies from the region.

These includes professionals, several individuals and even youth groups that Montejo hopes to escalate into other people in the community that would willingly adopt the method of giving.

Montejo also appealed to those who will be availing goods from the Barangayanihan to only get according to what they need.

“Mo adopt ta og sistema, along the way, working in progress atong activity karon, atong giawhag ang katong mga nanginahanglan pwede silang moduol ug asa atong Barangayanihan,” said Montejo.

For those who are willing to donate, Montejo said they could drop it into any police stations or offices and other government agencies. — GMR (FREEMAN)
