Cebu City maintains below 900 active cases

CEBU, Philippines —  Even with the much higher number of new cases in the past three days, Cebu City’s active cases have remained below 900 at 842.

But its number of cases has increased to nine for the first eight days of this month.

Active cases are from 66 barangays while 14 others are now without transmission.

For April 8, the positivity rate has gone up higher than the 5 percent WHO threshold at 8.5 percent. Out of 941 tested, there were 80 that turned out positive.

The city’s critical case occupancy rate, however, has now gone down to only 30.1 percent for all hospitals or only 304 occupied of the 707 COVID-19 dedicated beds.

A total of 100 patients, on the other hand are at NOAH Complex, Cebu City Quarantine Center with 58 and Barangay Isolation Centers with 169 while the rest are in hotels.

The Department of Health in Central Visayas case bulletin however showed that Cebu City still has 1,091 with some of its recoveries still for validation.

On the other hand, Lapu-Lapu City’s active cases are down to 811 while Mandaue City has 781 cases left.

Cebu Province has an active cases of 1,171 based on DOH-7 report while Negros Oriental has 192, Bohol has 352 and Siquijor has 25 active cases. — GMR (FREEMAN)
