Frasco pours in P174 million projects in Danao City

Gregg M. Rubio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  At least P174-million worth of projects has been brought in by Congressman Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco in Danao City as he continues the caravan of change in the Fifth District of Cebu.

Over the weekend, Frasco together with Provincial Board Member Red Duterte and Mike Villamor have visited Barangay Danasan, with officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways-7 to conduct a site inspection of the on-going Asturias-Liloan Road Opening Project.

“The Asturias-Liloan Road Opening Project is historic and groundbreaking as it directly connects the eastern portion to the western portion of Cebu,” said Frasco.

The project has two components---the Liloan to Danao segment and the Danao to Asturias segment. The Danao segment is at least six kilometers and will traverse the mountain barangays of Danasan and Cambubho.

The Liloan segment will start from the mountain barangay of Mulao and will connect to neighboring Barangay Mulao of Compostela, then to Barangays Dapdap and Tag-Ubi where it will connect to Barangay Danasan of Danao City.

This P168 million project was funded under the 2020 General Appropriations Act, which Frasco was a co-author as vice-chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

Frasco said that P23 million was also allocated for Compostela segment and was already completed and P50 million was allocated for Liloan segment in 2020 as well for the ongoing bridge project in the mountain barangay of Mulao to connect Liloan and Compostela.

Frasco said the project is expected to be completed by year 2025 and will connect to the Liloan-Consolacion-Mandaue Bypass Road leading to the New International Port in Consolacion.

“Direct access to the west of Cebu will bring untold economic progress and massive benefit to the towns and city in the Fifth District of Cebu as it opens up a vital and necessary link for trade, commerce, and opportunities between the east and west,” according to Frasco.

The flow of traffic in existing highways will also be faster, reducing traffic congestion across the Province and Cities of Cebu from the north all the way up to the south.

People from Liloan and neighboring towns in the eastern seaboard of Cebu will no longer pass through Trans Central Highway in Cebu City or Lugo Road in Sogod in going to the western seaboard of Cebu island.

Meanwhile, from Barangay Danasan, Frasco proceeded to Barangay Nangka for the turnover of Frasco’s personal donation of P400,000 worth of solar-powered streetlights to the people of Barangay Nangka, Danao City.

Frasco also went to Barangay Sandayong Norte for a public consultation with the people of the barangay and distribution of essential vitamins to senior citizens.

Lastly, Frasco proceeded to turn over the newly installed solar-powered streetlights along the National Highway of Danao in the Barangays of Looc and Maslog.

A total of 69 solar-powered streetlights worth P5.6 million were installed, giving the people of Looc and Maslog safety and security on their roads. — FPL (FREEMAN)
