Rape suspect arrested in Lapu-Lapu City
CEBU, Philippines — A 20-year-old male was arrested Monday evening by virtue of a warrant of arrest for allegedly raping his 19-year-old neighbor in Purok Bayabas, Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City.
Authorities identified the accused as James Timtim Gumera, a resident of the same barangay. The warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Ferdinand Collantes of the Regional Trial Court Branch 68 in Lapu-Lapu City.
Police Executive Master Sargent Zosimo Ravanes of Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 3 said Gumera was charged with rape by his neighbor.
The alleged rape happened sometime in June last year while the victim had a drinking session with her friends at the house of the accused.
"Ang ingon sa babaye nahubog man siya atong gainom sila didto sa balay sa suspect kuyog sa manghod sa suspect, gipahigda kuno siya sa manghod sa suspect didto sa kwarto sa suspect," Ravanes said.
The victim claimed she tried to resist but the accused succeeded in his bestial desire.
The accused denied raping the victim. He claimed the victim consented to what happened between them. — FPL (FREEMAN)
