Talisay to close Mananga Bridge 2

CEBU, Philippines — The Talisay City government will implement closure of the northbound lane of the Mananga Bridge 2 in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City starting at 8 a.m. tomorrow until 5 a.m. on January 11 for rehabilitation works.

Mayor Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas told The FREEMAN yesterday that the three-day closure is necessary to pave the way for the Department of Public Works and Highways-7 to repair the bridge

DPWH-7 Regional Director Edgar Tabacon, in his letter addressed to Gullas, said the bridge has minor defects that needed to be rectified prior to the issuance of the certificate of completion.

The last time the bridge underwent repair was on September 15, 2019.

“The procedure of this rectification requires the closure of the bridge since it involves epoxy injection that needs curing period before it will be passable again,” Tabacon said.

With the closure, Gullas said the city government has came up with traffic schemes to prevent bottlenecks on Natalio Bacalso Avenue.

He said the southbound lane of the bridge will be opened to two-way traffic.

However, he said that only light vehicles (up to four-wheel vehicles) will be allowed to pass by the area.

Trucks will be rerouted to other parts of Talisay City, he added.

Six-wheeler and trailer trucks, among others have two options:

1. Northbound vehicles (going to Tabunok) are advised to turn right to Antonio Bacaltos St., turn left to CSCR (Cebu South Coastal Road), then turn left to Rabaya St. and then exit to Tabunok.

2. Southbound vehicles from Lagtang can either pass by Rabaya Street (Alturas Terminal), then turn right to San Isidro, and exit to CSCR or they can proceed to Rabaya Street (Nonoc) then right turn to CSCR.

While for passenger buses and trucks going to Cebu City, they can pass by the CSCR.

“Please be mindful of this advisory. Mag pa butang sad mi og signages sa kadalanan. Hopefully, DPWH will commit to its timeline in finishing its work at 5 a.m. of January 11. Dili unta nato hasol-hasolon ang atong mga motorista,” said the mayor in his Facebook post. — KQD (FREEMAN)
