Cops commend boy for returning cash

CEBU, Philippines —  The Tuburan Police Station has commended an eight-year-old boy who returned cash that he found along the streets in his barangay last Wednesday in Tuburan, Cebu.

In a Facebook post of the Tuburan Police Station, the cops have called the attention of anyone who has lost their money to claim it in the station as the eight-year-old Marvin Langaylangay have turned it over.

“Good evening Tuburanon, kaning bataa na sa picture nag-turn over ni siya ug kwarta dri sa Police Station nga iyang nakit-an ganihang buntag ug karung gabii.  So, two times ni siya nakakita ug kwarta, ang first diha niya nakit-an sa Brgy. 7 Atbang Dave Deben ganihang buntag ug ika duha diha niya nakit-an sa may Du Ek Sam karun lang gabii,” the post read.

“Ug si kinsa katong nawagtangan ug kwarta aria lang sa atong police station. Salamat aning bataa sa imong ka matinud-anon, (you’re) a good example to others,” the post added.

In an interview with reporters, Patrolman Junevon Sagaysay said that Marvin was just walking around the barangay when he saw the cash on the street.

Sagaysay did not disclose the amount of money that Marvin found, as they are waiting for the owner to claim it.

“Mao bitaw among na storyahan nga honest gyud siya kay ni angkon sab siya nga ang katong una niya nakit-an nga kwarta iyahang gikuhaan P50 para palit makaon kay gigutom daw siya, pero mao to iyaha gihapon gihatag ang kwarta,” said Sagaysay.

With Marvin’s honesty, Sagaysay said they must be given proper attention as it is very rare nowadays to encounter such honesty.

“Tagsa ra gyud na kay bata pagyud na ba di gyud na sila maka huna-huna, ang uban gani dili mag saba,” said Sagaysay.

If no one will claim the money, the policemen have agreed that they will give the money to Marvin. — GAN (FREEMAN)
