Capitol extends P8.8 million aid to 80 barangays in 7th district

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu provincial government has turned over financial assistance worth P8.8 million to around 80 barangays in eight towns in the seventh district.

The financial aid is intended for the socio-cultural activities and bonus projects such as footbridge repairs and purchase of furniture and fixture, among others, in the towns of Alegria, Alcantara, Badian, Dumanjug, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc,Moalboal and Ronda.

Recipients of the said financial assistance are barangays of Compostela, Legaspi, Guadalupe, and Poblacion in Alegria; Barangays Lawaan, Manga, Palanas, Poblacion, and Polo in Alcantara; Barangays Poblacion, Sanlagan, Santicon, Sulsogan, Taytay, Tubod, Zaragosa, Dubdub, Ginablan, Malabago, Patong, Alawihao, Basiao, Bugas, Calangcang, and Candiis in Badian; and Barangays Cansayahon, Ilaya, Malalay, Poblacion, and Vive in Ronda, according to Sugbo News, the Capitol-ran news portal.

Other beneficiaries are the barangays of Busay, Lanao, Poblacion East and West, Tuble, Tunga, Agbalanga, Bala, Batadbatad, Bugho, Balabagon and Buguil in Moalboal; Barangays Looc, Cerdeña, Salmeron, Montañeza, Poblacion Uno, Mahanlud, Sto.Nino, Armenia, Lumbo, Poblacion Dos, and Labrador in Malabuyoc; Barangays Masa,  Paculob, Balaygtiki, Tubod-Dugoan, Duldol, Kabatbatan, Kang-aktol, Lamak, Liong, Matalao, Tapon, Cogon, Bitoon, Calaboon, Camboang, and Poblacion Looc in Dumanjug; as well as Barangays Cagsing, Calabawan, Campisong, Palanas, San Roque, Cambagte, Guiwanon, and Malatbo in Ginatilan.

The barangay captains of the barangays received the financial assistance during the turnover at the Alegria Heritage Park.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the turnover, along with the members of the Provincial Board.

“Alang kaninyo gihatod na namo ang tseke kay aron dili na mo maghulat, dili na mo magpanuko ug pangulbaan nga moadto sa (siyudad), sa Kapitolyo nga magkuha. So special delivery gyud intawon ni... Okay ra kaayo kay ang nag-delivery boy and delivery girl mga Board Members ug ako," Garcia said in a press release of the Capitol.

Meanwhile, Alegria town also received P300, 000 in financial aid for its socio-cultural activities. Mayor Verna Magallon thanked the provincial government for the assistance.

During the activity, Garcia informed the barangays about the P550,000 assistance from the Capitol to the barangays for the development of their nurseries for vegetables and also for Sugbusog (Sugbuanong Busog, Luwas ug Himsog) program which encourages barangays to hold vegetable gardening competition among its residents in line with the program at the purok and barangay level. — KQD (FREEMAN)
