2 more cops COVID positive

CEBU, Philippines — Two cops assigned at the Carbon Police Station of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) had tested positive for the Corona Virus disease (COVID-19).

CCPO Director Josefino Ligan said these cops were already transferred to the Don Vicente Rama National High School, where the personnel from Police station 6, who also tested positive, were housed.

He added that right after these two cops have known that they were having a fever, they immediately went off-duty and refused to report at the Carbon Police Station.

The contact tracing is now ongoing for these two police officers, who immediately underwent home quarantine.

Ligan also said that they will not be placing the entire Carbon Police Station on lockdown, however, the personnel were advised for isolation which involves them to stay at police station in the meantime and will not go home.

“Naa nay isolation area para sa mga off duty.  Di sa sila mopauli ug duol ra sad sa Carbon,” said Ligan.

Carbon Police Station has more or less 54 police personnel.

Aside from this, the station also has an ongoing swab testing on the inmates after two of them tested positive. These two inmates were committed already to Cebu City Jail.

The CCPO is also set to interview cops assigned at the Carbon Police Station who were deployed on field to see if they manifested symptoms.

He also assured the public that the CCPO cops will continue with their service, despite the rising number of COVID cases among them.

“Sa akoang mga tawo sa Cebu City Police Office, padayon sa atong pagpanghatag ug serbisyo...kinahanglan lang nga baskog ug himsog ang inyong panlawas,” Ligan said.

Peace and Order

Meanwhile, Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak has urged the public to help in maintaining the peace and order situation in their respective community.

“Awhag lang nato sa atong mga katawhan nga motabang sila nga malikayan nga dunay mga kasamok sa ilahang komunidad kay looy kaayo atong mga kapolisan moresponde, nga mitabang pa nila, mao na hinuoy nabiktima sa COVID,” said Tumulak.

As of Tuesday, May 12, Tumulak said there are 20 police personnel isolated at Don Vicente Rama High School in Barangay Basak San Nicolas.

This after they tested positive for COVID-19.

“Kani sila giquarantine na sila daan, pila nalang ka adlaw i-reswab nasad ni sila ug pananglitan og magnegatibo pwede naman sad sila makauli for home quarantine,” he said.

Tumulak said the police personnel isolated at the barangay isolation center (BIC), which is the school, are also watched by the police.

“Dili man sad pud sila makagawas diha sa Don Vicente Rama High School. Ang ato lang hangyo sa mga residente nga instead nga mahadlok sila mogawas ang mga positive nga mga polis, ang ilang buhaton magbantay sila sa gawas nga way makasud ngadto sa Don Vicente Rama High School,” Tumulak said.

Transfer

Meanwhile, Councilor Joel Garganera has reported that the transfer of 40 asymptomatic patients Tuesday night in Barangay Bacayan was a success.

All patients are residents of Upper Bacayan.

Garganera said the pullout was a bit challenging since Bacayan Elementary School is located in an elevated area. The school was identified as a BIC.

He said another challenge was the lack of water supply. However, the Cebu City government immediately placed a water tank as well as lights and beds, among others, before the transfer.   GAN (FREEMAN)
